One compost thermometer with analog display and 20" probe. |
Reliable, accurate compost thermometer for temperatures from 0 to 220 Fahrenheit. The 20 inch probe on this high quaity thermometerreads deep into the center of the compost pile. Composting occurs at temperatures between approximately 60 to 160 Fahrenheit, with the ideal temperature between 95 and 130 Fahrenheit. Composting temperature affects the speed and matter that can be broken down. Higher temperatures will assure that weed seeds, disease and insect eggs are destroed. Checking the temperature of your compost pile with the No-Wait Compost Thermometer is a smart way to monitor this process. Remember that the center of the compost pile should be hotter than the outer perimeter; hence the reason to constantly turn the pile. To see if your compost is ready, turn it and check the temperature. After turning, the temperature will decline slightly but quickly rise again. If the temperature does not rise, or is generally at 100 Fahrenheit or less and all other conditions in the compost pile are favorable, your compost should be ready! |
Plunge probe into area to be monitored with temperature guage upright. Temperature will be indicated on analog dial. |
