    Description:
    Common Uses for Zeolite

    Crops/Pastures:

Higher yields through making fertilizers more effective by preventing leeching and holding valuable nutrients such as ammonium nitrate, potassium, magnesium and calcium as well as trace elements for slow release as needed. Also produces long term soil improvements.

    Horticulture:
    Soil amendments, Gardens/nursery beds
    Reclamation/revegetation, Turf grass soil amendment
    Golf course mixes

Benefits of using Zeolite in Horticulture applications:
Retains nutrients longer to lower fertilizer costs, substantial yield improvements, less nutrient leeching, and long term soil improvement. Increases cation exchange capacity (CEC), Improves porosity. Water-holding properties, Increases nitrogen retention in the soil, Reduces ammonia volatilization, Reduces nitrate leaching, Improves potassium retention, Improves the utilization of nitrogen and phosphorus by plants, Decreases water runoff and ponding, Decreases occurrence of localized dry spots, Increases amount of water available to plants, Increases length of time between irrigations, Inorganic substitute for peat moss in mixes, Increases in fertilizer use efficiency, Relieves compacted soils, Excellent tolerance to traffic.

    Turf:
Produces significant turf root improvement; dense and deeper feeder root system; less fertilizers required; retention of key nutrients; increased soil potassium levels; permanent increase in cation-exchange capacity.

    Uses of Zeolite for landscaping:
Aerification, topdressing, new construction, greenhouse mixes, landscape mixes, golf course mixes, planters, turf grass production

How does Using Zeolites benefit my Soil?
Using zeolite will cut fertilizer and water costs by holding the nutrients and water in the root zone until the plant is ready to utilize them. Thereby requiring less fertilizer and water to be applied. This promotes good stewardship of the land by reducing pollution brought on by fertilizers leaching to the groundwater or running off into surface water sources. Zeolites, when used properly, can yield some impressive results in regards to faster germination times, faster growth rates, larger plants, and crop yields and reduced fertilizer and water applications. Reduces water requirements during irrigation as zeolite holds moisture in the growth zone. Zeolite has a high CEC that enables a greater loading of plant nutrients such as nitrogen & micronutrients. The nutrients are held in the growth zone and are plant accessible but not water- soluble.

Reduces nitrogen fertilizer requirements as a large portion of nitrogen fertilizers leach through the growth zone and into the aquifer. Zeolite will hold nitrogen and prevent the pollution of the water table by nitrates and nitrites. Zeolite prevents compaction, increases infiltration, and helps the aeration of deep root systems due to its high surface area and porosity. Zeolite is 100% natural for organic operations and when composted with manure, it becomes a natural fertilizing system.

    Application Recommendations:
Rates can vary from 10 to 50 pounds per 1000 square feet depending on use
